6. Blackpool

Blackpool is a seaside resort town in Lancashire, best known for its sandy beaches, colourful Illuminations and Pleasure Beach amusement park. There’s plenty to do in Blackpool, from taking a ride on the famous Blackpool Tower Eye to enjoying a show at the Winter Gardens.


The Blackpool Illuminations are a series of lights that are switched on each year in September and run for around six weeks. The lights are installed along the seafront and cover a distance of around 6 miles.

There is also a large display at the Blackpool Tower, which is worth checking out if you’re in town during the Illuminations.
